The Mortgage Bankers Association, which is holding its 95th annual convention in San Francisco this week, got a chilly welcome.
Protesters carrying signs with slogans like “Jail them, don’t bail them“ and ”Grand theft bailout” greeted bankers who arrived early.
The association says its 2,400 members have renewed their commitment to help consumers.
“[The current crisis] makes us committed to helping every single home owner we possibly can to stay in their homes, and I feel that energy,” says Cheryl Crispen, the group’s senior vice president of communications and marketing. “Nobody benefits from a foreclosure.”
